Stephen Dorff retracts his negative Black Widow comments, says it was taken “a little bit out of context”

July 28, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Earlier this month, Blade alum Stephen Dorff trashed Marvel’s Black Widow movie for looking like “garbage” as well as expressing his embarrassment for star Scarlett Johansson.

Now, in an interview with TMZ, Dorff retracted his blunt and highly negative comments towards the film while claiming his comments were taken “out of context.”

“Oh, I love Scarlett, I think that was taken a little bit out of context, but she’s a great actress. … I heard she’s gonna be a mom, so I wish her the best, and she’s an old friend of mine so I felt bad about that comment. … I think that guy in England got me in a moment where I was just shit talking a little bit, and I felt a little bad by it. It happens sometimes.”

Dorff also clarified that not only is he still yet to see Black Widow despite the film been out for almost a month now, but he also has privately issued an apology to star Scarlett Johansson and has cleared the air with her.

In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Black Widow is directed by Cate Shortland (Lore) and sees Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as Natasha Romanoff alongside William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross, Florence Pugh (Fighting With My Family) as Yelena Belova, O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale) as Mason, David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) as Melina Vostokoff/Iron Maiden and Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast) as Dreykov.
