Pierce Brosnan says Black Adam is “an ensemble piece”, praises the writing

September 17, 2021 by EJ Moreno

We are just weeks away from the first official look at DC Films’ Black Adam at DC FanDome, and out of everything about the upcoming superhero movie, many are most excited to see Pierce Brosnan tackling the iconic role of Doctor Fate.

In a new interview with Collider, Brosnan shared his excitement for the role and opened up about how he believes the film will turn out, highlight the ensemble nature of the movie and praising the writing.

“It’s an ensemble piece, Black Adam. You have Dwayne [Johnson], who’s at the pinnacle of his fame and fortune and success and popularity. He is magnificent as Black Adam. We are the Justice Society, and there’s four of us, so we became a strong quartet of actors.”

“The writing was very good,” he continued. “There was just enough beats. You just want three good beats. If you have three good scenes to hang your hat and your heart on, then you can make something of your days. For me, Black Adam had that…”

Lastly, the former 007 added some considerable praise for director Jaume Collet-Serra, stating that he had a “visceral feeling and electricity” on set and that “with Jaume on Black Adam, I could say, ‘What about this line? What about that line?’ He had a very good ear and sensitivity.”

Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise) and sees Dwayne Johnson starring alongside Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz and Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui and Uli Latukefu in as-yet-unrevealed roles.

Black Adam is set for release on July 29th, 2022.
