Epic Games considering making a Fortnite movie

October 12, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

The news that Epic Games is considering branching out into wider media has led people to believe that the company’s phenomenally successful online multiplayer game Fortnite could be about to leap from the console screen to the big-screen.

According to a report from The Information, talks have already taken place regarding the potential for a Fortnite movie, with the story also at pains to point out that three former Lucasfilm employees have joined Epic Games this year, including Jason McGatlin, who was an executive producer on all of the Disney produced Star Wars films.

The Fortnite universe is one intrinsically linked to the movies in many ways, with most of its playable skins taking the form of some of your favourite franchise IP, from Iron Man to Ellen Ripley, the Battle Royale island often feels like the finale of Ready Player One. Most recently the trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Tenet made its debut in an online Fortnite event, while Avengers: Endgame directors The Russo Brothers were responsible for Season 6’s cinematic introduction.

At the moment it’s simply conjecture, with Epic refusing to comment, but what do you think of the idea of a Fortnite movie? Would it be something you’d be willing to spend your hard earned V-Bucks on? Let us know by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
