Quentin Tarantino receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

December 22, 2015 by William Fanelli

Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino was officially the 2,569th individual to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony was held on December 21 in Los Angeles and saw the writer-director, who was joined by the cast from his latest film The Hateful Eight, in great spirits.

Tarantino was glowing as he addressed a crowd of friends and fans in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre, the location of his Hollywood star. “Wow, I guess I must have become a big shot,” he said, following with a joke that he expected his star to be somewhere further down the walk “by Cherokee or Bronson.”

“This is a real, real groovy day. This is terrific,” Tarantino elaborated. “The one time — absolutely positively — that I know I stood on this spot of ground exactly — this spot right here where my name will eventually be — was my first James Bond movie and it was Diamonds Are Forever.”

Samuel L. Jackson was on hand to introduce his longtime collaborator, whom he first worked with on the 1994 classic Pulp Fiction, after playing a minor role in the Tony Scott-directed, Tarantino-scripted True Romance the year prior in ‘93. Joining Jackson at yesterday’s ceremony were his fellow Hateful Eight costars Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Zoë Bell, Tim Roth and Demian Bichir — all there to pay tribute to Tarantino.

Last night’s Walk of Fame ceremony will be the final of its kind for 2015. The event comes only days before Tarantino’s eighth feature film The Hateful Eight opens in limited release on Christmas Eve, marking the beginning of its highly-anticipated two-week roadshow on glorious 70mm.
