Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Part One and Two delayed to 2023 and 2024

April 21, 2022 by Ricky Church

Audiences waiting for the release of the much anticipated sequel Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Part One) will have to wait a little longer as Sony has delayed both (Part One) and (Part Two) to 2023 and 2024 respectively.

Across The Spider-Verse (Part One) was originally scheduled for October 7th, 2022, but it has now been pushed back to June 2, 2023 for a summer release. (Part Two) will be released almost a year later on March 29th, 2024.

No reason has been given for the delays, but given the advanced animation style of the films it can be assumed Sony Animation needs more time to complete production on both films. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse earned an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 2019 Oscars ceremony and much of the film’s critical praise came from how vibrant and detailed the animation was.

Into The Spider-Verse focused on Miles Morales, a young teenager growing up in Brooklyn who gains similar spider powers to the original Spider-Man and has to team up with Peter B. Parker, a Spider-Man from an alternate universe along with several other alternate Spider-Men and Women, including Spider-Gwen, a version of Gwen Stacey where she was bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter. Across The Spider-Verse will reunite Miles, Peter B. Parker and Gwen as they travel across the Spider-Verse to fight off a new threat, meeting Spider-Man 2099 as voiced by Oscar Issac (Moon Knight).

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.

Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson,  Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) features the voice talents of Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, Jake Johnson as Peter. B Parker, Oscar Issac as Spider-Man 2099, and Issa Rae as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman.
