Neve Campbell joins David E. Kelly and Michael Connelly series Avalon

August 19, 2022 by Ricky Church

After turning down a return for Scream 6, Deadline reports Neve Campbell is now attached to star in David E. Kelly and Michael Connelly’s new series Avalon for ABC.

Avalon is based on one of Connelly’s short stories and follows “the main city of Avalon on Catalina Island, where LA Sheriff Department Detective Nicole “Nic” Searcy (Campbell) heads up a small office. Catalina has a local population that serves more than 1 million tourists a year, and each day when the ferries arrive, hundreds of potential new stories enter the island. Detective Searcy is pulled into a career-defining mystery that will challenge everything she knows about herself and the island.”

Campbell’s Detective Searcy is described as “the lone detective assigned to the LA County Sheriff’s substation on Catalina Island. Somewhat inscrutable, she isn’t easily intimidated and holds firm to her morals. Ironically, her strong moral compass is what got her banished to Catalina’s biggest city, Avalon. It’s a gig no career-driven LA cop wants, but she soon discovers her valuable detective skills are needed more on Avalon than she could have imagined.”

In a funny connection, Campbell currently stars in another adaptation of Connelly’s book, The Lincoln Lawyer, on Netflix. She will retain her recurring role on The Lincoln Lawyer‘s second season while leading Avalon.

Kelly will write Avalon‘s pilot and executive produce the series alongside Connelly. Dana Calvo will also executive produce and serve as the series’ showrunner. Avalon will be produced by A+E Studios and 20th Television.
