HBO Max’s Harley Quinn renewed for season 4 with new showrunner

September 3, 2022 by Gary Collinson

The Warner Bros. Discovery merger hasn’t been too kind to DC Comics fans, what with the shock cancellation of Batgirl, the recent delay of Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and uncertainty surrounding much of the DC development slate for screens both big and small.

Well, fans of Harley Quinn can now rest easier, as HBO Max has officially renewed the Kaley Cuoco-led adult animated series for a fourth season, one which will see writer Sarah Peters stepping up to succeed co-creators Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker as showrunner.

“We are ecstatic that HBO Max wants the story of Harley and Ivy to continue,” Schumacker and Halpern said in a statement. “And we are equally thrilled that this next season will be in great hands with Sarah Peters as our showrunner and Ceci Aranovich overseeing animation production, as they have both greatly influenced the show with their brilliance since the beginning.”

The third season of Harley Quinn is currently airing on Thursdays on HBO Max, while the first two seasons are available to stream.
