Indiana Jones TV series will reportedly focus on Indy’s mentor Abner Ravenwood

November 12, 2022 by EJ Moreno

It was revealed this week that the Indiana Jones franchise looks to be heading back to the small screen with a new TV series for Disney+, although fans have been left in the dark about the actual plot of the potential series.

It’s possible that the show will look at one of the more notable characters in the franchise, even if we’ve never seen him before. Yes, the mentor of Indiana Jones, Abner Ravenwood, is rumored to be the project’s focal point.

The Hot Mic’s Jeff Sneider offered new details about the Indiana Jones series. Sneider claims the series will serve as a prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark with Abner Ravenwood as the main protagonist.

For those who don’t know, Ravenwood is an off-screen mentor to Jones,  the father of Marion Ravenwood, who disappeared during his obsessive quest to locate the Ark of the Covenant.

Sneider claims that the series would take place no later than the 1920s, which would put it several years ahead of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (and right around the time that Henry Jones Jr. was embarking on an affair with Abner’s teen daughter).

The prequel is currently in the early stages of development. Meanwhile, Disney and Lucasfilm have Indiana Jones 5 set for release
