Joaquin Phoenix embarks on an adventure through his darkest fears in trailer for Ari Aster’s Beau is Afraid

Ari Aster movies always promise an intriguing descent into darkness, and judging by the trailer that A24 has just shared, it appears things will be no different for Joaquin Phonex’s Beau in the Midsommar director’s “nightmare comedy” Beau is Afraid. 

Sending Phoenix’s titular protagonist on a journey from his darkest fears through to his greatest adventure, you can check out the mind-bending trailer below…

An intimate, decades-spanning portrait of one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time. An anxious man learns of the death of his mother under mysterious circumstances and upon traveling home makes an alarming discovery about his past. During his journey, he runs into various crazy supernatural threats.

From director Ari Aster Beau is Afraid stars Academy Award winner Joaquin Phoenix, Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zoe Lister-Jones, Armen Nahapetian, with Parker Posey and Patti LuPone.

Beau is Afraid is released on April 21st, 2023.
