The Wheel of Time season 2 to premiere in September, first look photos released

May 26, 2023 by Ricky Church

After nearly two years, The Wheel of Time will return this fall as Amazon has announced season two will premiere September 1st. The streamer also released a batch of first-look photos and a new synopsis of the upcoming season as the characters, who are scattered across the world, must find their way back to each other to overcome new dangers and threats.

The Wheel of Time focuses on a small group of young adults who are rescued by Moiraine, a powerful member of the mysterious Aes Sedai, after their village is attacked by evil forces. Moiraine believes one of them to be the Dragon Reborn, a powerful individual who is prophesied to either save the world or destroy it as he or she combats the Dark One and his armies from conquering the world.

Amazon already renewed the adaptation of Robert Jordan’s beloved fantasy series for a third season, which is executive produced and showrun by Rafe Judkins (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D).

Based on the best-selling Robert Jordan fantasy series The Wheel of Time, a humble farm boy, Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski), learns he is The Dragon Reborn—a dangerous figure from history destined to save the world … or break it. Desperate to protect him from the Dark One, an army of powerful sorceresses must reckon with his burgeoning power and encroaching madness. The Wheel of Time turns, and the Last Battle approaches. Though Rand thought he destroyed the Dark One, evil is not gone from the world. In Season Two, threats new and very old seek out the young friends from the Two Rivers, now scattered over the world. The woman who found and guided them is now powerless to help, and so they must find other sources of strength. In each other, or themselves. In the Light … or the Dark.

The Wheel of Time stars Rosamund Pike as Moiraine Damodred, Daniel Henney as Lan Mandragoran, Zoë Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara, Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’Vere, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Dónal Finn as Mat Cauthon, and Ceara Coveney as Elayne Trakand.

The Wheel of Time season two will premiere September 1st.
