You might think Annabelle is the poster-gal for The Conjuring Universe, but the biggest grossing entry in the series to date is The Nun, so there’s little surprise that Warner Bros. are summoning habit-wearing horror Valek back onto the big-screen, and judging by these first-look images it appears she’ll have those nuns on the run all over again.
Directed by Conjuring Universe alumni Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It), from a script written by Malignant‘s Akela Cooper, The Nun 2 pits Bonnie Aarons titular demon up against the returning Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene, and Jonas Bloquet as Frenchie, as well as adding Storm Reid, Katelyn Rose Downey, and Anna Popplewell to the convent’s cast-list.
2018’s The Nun was critically lambasted when it was released, but inexplicably went on to become The Conjuring Universe’s most successful film so far, grossing an unholy $365M at the worldwide box-office.
