Emma Stone introduces her character Bella Baxter in Poor Things trailer

October 20, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

Having wowed audiences on the festival circuit, where we called it “the vision of a unique voice” in which “Emma Stone delivers some of her best work since La La Land“ in our ★ ★ ★ ★ review (which you can read here), it’s now time for Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things to see the world, and so Searchlight Pictures has shared a brand new trailer for the Frankenstein-inspired story.

Beginning its global rollout in December, Poor Things also stars Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbott and Margaret Qualley; take a look at the brand new trailer below…

From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

Poor Things arrives in U.S. theatres on December 8th, before a U.K release on 12 January, 2024.
