Fast and Furious writer penning Thai prison action thriller Champion

February 8, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Storyscape Entertainment and Pioneer Pictures are teaming up for a new action thriller entitled Champion, which will take place in Thailand’s underground prison fighting world.

The project has been written by Gary Scott Thompson, screenwriter behind the original The Fast and the Furious, and “follows the journey of an American locked up abroad who must learn Muay Thai in order to fight for his freedom.” It is said to be based on real events, “exploring a centuries-old tradition within Thailand’s prison system where inmates compete in state-sanctioned Muay Thai tournaments to win early release.”

Champion is being produced by Bob Cooper (Stargate SG-1), Richard Saperstein (Se7en), Robert Kravis (Lucky Number Slevin) and Tyler Mitchell (The Incredible Burt Wonderstone).
