Ridley Scott to direct Bee Gees biopic

February 17, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Paramount Pictures dropped Bob Marley: One Love this past week, and the studio is already moving ahead with another biopic.

Deadline reports that Paramount is looking to tackle the life and career of the legendary band the Bee Gees. John Logan has written the script for the new film, which is under wraps with very few plot details released. However, the most intriguing part of this story is Ridley Scott is currently in negotiations to direct Paramount Pictures’ untitled Bee Gees movie.

While many may be confused about Ridley Scott jumping on a project like this, Deadline notes the filmmaker has a “long-standing link to the legendary group” as the group’s longtime manager at the time, Robert Stigwood, was moving into the movie-producing business and previously tapped Scott for the medieval film Castle Accident, which would have starred the band’s three brothers, Barry, Robin, and Maurice. While the project never came to be, it seems like the filmmaker has remained close to the band.

Barry Gibb is set to executive produce. Scott will produce alongside producing partner Michael Pruss of Scott Free, Graham King through his GK Films banner, and Stacey Snider.

Up next for Ridley Scott is Gladiator 2, set for release on November 22nd and stars Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, May Calamaway, Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi.
