Disney’s Club 33 to get a “fantastical” film adaptation from Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps

May 25, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Club 33 was once the hardest place to get into at Disney, but now film fans will get some insight into the club.

Per THR, Club 33, known as the exclusive dining club inside Disneyland, will get a movie adaptation. Darren Lemke will pen the script, which the outlet reports is “set in a fantastical world about the club.”

In Club 33, the story centers on a young aspiring detective who receives a mysterious invite to the highly secretive Club 33. In this case, it’s a magical and exclusive dining club whose members are the greatest and most iconic figures from across history. When a murder is committed on the premises, the patrons look to the young detective to solve it.

Club 33 is the latest Disney film based on or inspired by its theme parks and follows Pirates of the Caribbean, Tomorrowland, Jungle Cruise, and Haunted Mansion. Club 33 opened in 1967 and is near the Pirates theme park attraction. It began as a private place where Disney hosted celebrities and dignitaries, but as it became more well-known, it shifted to an elite stealth club. The club is in Disney World in Florida, Tokyo Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland.

Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Dan Cohen are producing through 21 Laps Entertainment, although the film has yet to attach a director or cast. Stay tuned for more information on Club 33.
