Colin Firth becomes the latest to join Guy Ritchie and Amazon’s Young Sherlock

July 18, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Guy Ritchie’s Young Sherlock has added quite the perfect name to its budding cast as Variety reports that Colin Firth has joined the Amazon Prime Video series. Firth will play Sir Bucephalus Hodge, with further character details currently under wraps.

The actor has a distinguished career with critically acclaimed and commercially successful films. His biggest hits include Bridget Jones’s Diary, Mamma Mia!, Oscar-winning work in The King’s Speech, and Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Per the logline, the show reimagines Sherlock Holmes at age 19. Disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed, he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University, threatening his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock (Fiennes Tiffin) unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever.

The series is inspired by Andy Lane’s Young Sherlock Holmes novels. The series consisted of young adult thriller novels by British author Andrew Lane featuring Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective Sherlock Holmes as a teenager in the 1860s and 70s who is faced with numerous mysteries, crimes, and adventures throughout the series.

Hero Fiennes Tiffin will lead the series as the titular character, with Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, and Zine Tseng also set to star. Fiennes and McElhone play Sherlock’s parents; Tseng plays Princess Gulun Shou’an.

Stay tuned to Flickering Myth for more updates on Young Sherlock.
