I Know What You Did Last Summer requel finds new cast

July 23, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Horror has a new requel, and the new I Know What You Did Last Summer has found its cast.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, revealing the young cast facing off the hook-handed killer. As reported, Camila Mendes, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King are currently attached.

Mendes is best known for Riverdale, Madelyn Cline stars on Neflix’s Outer Banks, Sarah Pidgeon is a Tony Award nominee, Tyriq Withers came from Atlanta, and Jonah Hauer-King played Prince Eric in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

We’ve also noted that franchise actors Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. were in talks to reprise their roles from the initial movie. The cast of 1997’s slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer included Hewitt, Prinze, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe.

The story follows a group of friends stalked by a villain with a hook after they try to cover up, hitting him with their car. There was a 1998 sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, and a horrible direct-to-video third film, I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.

THR notes that Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is directing the new project, which is based on a screenplay she co-wrote with Sam Lansky after an initial script from Leah McKendrick. Robinson previously worked with Camila Mendes on the film Do Revenge.

The release date is currently set for July 18th, 2025.
