The upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has beefed up its cast with one new face and several returning Star Trek members.
Sandro Rosta has been cast as one of the new cadets who join Starfleet Academy. He’ll star alongside fellow cadets Kerrice Brooks (My Old Ass), Bella Shepard (Wolf Pack), George Hawkins (Tell Me Everything), Karim Diané (One Of Us Is Lying) and Zoë Steiner (Significant Others).

In addition to Rosta, Starfleet Academy is bringing back several Star Trek veterans. Returning from Star Trek: Discovery, confirming the series is set in the 30th century, is Tig Notaro, Mary Wiseman and Oded Fehr as Jett Reno, Sylvia Tilly and Admiral Vance. Also returning is Robert Picardo reprising his Star Trek: Voyager role as The Doctor, a holographic medical program. Whether Picardo will be the same Doctor or a different version of the program remains to be seen.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will follow “a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.”
The series will also star Holly Hunter as Starfleet Academy’s Chancellor and Paul Giamatti as the villain.
Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau will serve as showrunners and executive producers Star Trek: Starfleet Academy with Gaia Violo having written the pilot episode as well as executive produce. Also serving as executive producers are Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa and John Weber.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will begin production in Toronto this month.
