Lindsay Lohan celebrates production wrapping on Freakier Friday

August 20, 2024 by Ricky Church

Production has wrapped on Disney’s anticipated sequel Freakier Friday. The film’s lead Lindsay Lohan shared the news yesterday on her Instagram, celebrating its completion in a lengthy heartfelt post.

Freaky Friday was released on 2003 and starred Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis as a mother-daughter pair who somehow swap bodies and have to find a way to swap back, all the while strengthening their relationship. Freakier Friday will see Lohan’s Anna with her own family as they are once again body swapped.

“It’s our last Monday on the set of #freakierfriday and my heart is so full,” Lohan wrote on Instagram. “It’s been such a great time making this film. The wonderful cast, crew and everyone from @disneystudios have invested so much time and love into making this movie! Thank you to all of you! I’m so grateful to have made this film, a story of family, mothers and their children and a film filled with love, laughter and a ton of heart!”

Freakier Friday will be directed by Nisha Ganatra (High Note) from a script by Jordan Weiss (Dollface). Curtis is producing with Kristin Burr and Andrew Gunn while Lohan will serve as an executive producer alongside Nathan Kelly and Ann Marie Sanderlin.

A sequel to the beloved 2003 film with a multigenerational twist, the film picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.

Freakier Friday reunites original stars Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao with newcomers Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Manny Jacinto.

Freakier Friday will be released on theatres in 2025.
