SpongeBob’s Patrick Star gets his own video game this October

August 29, 2024 by Andrew Newton

At this year’s Nintendo Direct, Outright Games revealed the first details of The Patrick Star Game, the first ever game for SpongeBob SquarePants’ best friend, Patrick Star. Developed by PHL Collective,  The Patrick Star Game takes players on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Playstation 5 and PC via Steam  to the world of SpongeBob SquarePants on 4th October. Watch the new trailer below to have a peek at the adventures Patrick will get into…

The Patrick Star Game is a sandbox adventure game that allows players to follow Patrick Star as he explores Bikini Bottom. Players can take on a variety of missions from all of Patrick’s friends, including SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs, Sandy Cheeks and Plankton such as a Krabby Patty construction quest, a mission in Mrs. Puff’s rage room and even a play on the see-saw.  Whatever players choose to do they will be able to utilise most objects to alter the world in many hilarious ways that defy physics.

There will be plenty of adventures for Patrick to have, these include exploring iconic locations around Bikini Bottom such as Glove World, The Dump and the Demolition Derby, plus there are jars of mayonnaise to collect, outfits to unlock and Easter Eggs from the cartoon series to look out for.

Fans of the SpongeBob SquarePants may also recognise some of the voices of the original SpongeBob SquarePants cast, with Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick, Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs and many more.

Stephanie Malham, Managing Director of Outright Games said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work once again with Nickelodeon/Paramount Consumer Products. We are incredibly thankful to be expanding our on-going relationship in adapting iconic IP’s into family-friendly video games. It is an honour to work on an iconic and beloved franchise like ‘SpongeBob SquarePants‘. With ‘The Patrick Star Game‘, we have created an interactive playground for fans to create their own adventures in Bikini Bottom, while honoring the show’s zany humor and lovable characters.”

Doug Rosen, SVP, Games and Emerging Media at Paramount, said: “Just in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘SpongeBob SquarePants‘, we are delighted to collaborate with Outright Games to release a new game that for the first time, focusing on the real ‘star’…Patrick.”

The Patrick Star Game will arrive on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Steam on 4th October.
