Blade Runner 2099 adds Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi

August 30, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Blade Runner 2099 is shooting, and the cast has begun to fill out.

We know Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer will lead the follow-up to Blade Runner 2049, but Deadline reports that two more names have joined the cast of the Prime Video series with Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi set for recurring roles. No character details have been revealed.

Burke is best known for starring in this year’s Furiosa; he also starred in Netflix’s The Crown and played Orson Welles in David Fincher’s Mank. Lombardi comes from Netflix’s Ripley adaptation and is starring in the upcoming Citadel: Diana, directed by Arnaldo Catinari.

The previously announced supporting cast for Blade Runner 2099 includes Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, and Matthew Needham.

The plot details are relatively scant. Shōgun‘s Jonathan van Tulleken will direct the first two episodes. Silka Luisa is the showrunner, joined by executive producer Ridley Scott and co-executive producer Steven Johnson.

Production has begun in Prague, with later shooting happening in Barcelona. No release date is set for Blade Runner 2099 at the time of reporting.
