Taron Egerton joins Charlize Theron in wilderness thriller Apex

November 13, 2024 by Ricky Church

Rocketman star Taron Egerton has joined Charlize Theron in Netflix’s upcoming wilderness thriller Apex from director Baltasar Kormákur (Touch).

Apex is billed as “Free Solo meets Silence of the Lambs” with Theron starring as a rock climber who finds herself being hunted in the wilderness. Egerton’s role is being kept under wraps for the time being.

The film is written by Jeremy Robbins (The Purge TV series) with Theron producing through her company Denver and Delilah Productions with Dawn Olmstead, Beth Kono and AJ Dix. Kormákur will produce through RVK Productions while Chernin Entertainment’s Ian Bryce ;and Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and David Ready are also attached.

Egerton is known for his role in the Kingsman action-comedy franchise for which he’s attached to star in the third and final film of the main series Kingsman: The Blue Blood. He is also known for starring as music icon Elton John in the biopic Rocketman as well as his roles in the Sing films, Tetris, Black Bird and Eddie the Eagle.

Theron has several upcoming films under her belt which include the eleventh and potentially final Fast & Furious movie as well as Netflix’s The Old Guard 2, which was temporarily shut down during post-production but then started with some reshoots scheduled last month. The sequel is expected to be released sometime next year.
