Amazon MGM Studios are striking while the iron is hot by reuniting with The Idea of You star Anne Hathaway to adapt Colleen Hoover’s New York Times bestseller Verity.
Per Deadline’s report the studio are looking to capitalise on Hoover’s popularity following the $346 million that the Blake Lively-headlined It Ends with Us made at the worldwide box-office this year, by pairing the author with the star of their own 2024 success story The Idea of You, to adapt the psychological thriller.
Verity tells the story of Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin who accepts the job offer of a lifetime from Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford. Lowen is hired to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish. However, what she discovers in the unfinished autobiography are bone-chilling admissions, never intended for anyone to read. As she gets closer with Jeremy and his son, she must decide if Verity’s writings are works of fiction or an ominous warning by a deranged psychopath.
The Idea of You director Michael Showalter will work from an adaptation written by Nick Antosca (The Act). Sources reveal that the film is set for a theatrical release.
