Age of Darkness: Final Stand leaves Early Access with new multiplayer mode

January 16, 2025 by Andrew Newton

PlaySide Studios’ intense, dark fantasy RTS Age of Darkness: Final Stand has left Early Access and has now officially launched into 1.0.  This full launch also sees the arrival of the highly anticipated Multiplayer mode, allowing players to team up in co-op for the very first time.  Watch the new trailer below to see what the game has to offer.

Age of Darkness: Final Stand pits players against the Never-Ending Evil, a mass of souls that rampage in the darkness.  As the last line of defence against this nightmarish threat, players will cut a path through this darkness using light, fire and courage. PlaySide’s internally developed “SwarmTech” will mean players will face up to 70,000 enemy units at once and will need to claw back territory from what is known as ‘The Veil’.

The game’s new multiplayer mode will allow players to join a friend and work together to face the onslaught of these relentless enemies.  In this new co-op mode, players can share Blessings and trading resources and will be able to fight alongside each other against Elite Nightmares to ensure they survive the brutal Death Nights.

The full launch of Age of Darkness: Final Stand features:

  • A fully voiced story-driven campaign that takes place over 10 chapters.
  • Put your survival skills to the test with the endlessly replayable Survival Mode.
  • Award-winning SwarmTech Technology, allowing the game to render over 70,000 enemy units on the screen at any one time.
  • Three factions to choose from – The Order, Rebellion and the Volatists. Each with their own playstyles, abilities, bonuses and army units.
  • A dynamic day/night cycle that allows players to reclaim territory by day and fight for survival by night.
  • Encounter The Veil, a living fog of death that hides terrors and which must be kept at bay through the power of the Light.
  • A variety of Malices, Blessings and Hardships that make every run unique and unpredictable.
  • Hunt down Elite Nightmares for powerful Dark Essence using different tactics.
  • Embolden your army to help them in battle but protect them from being Horrified.
  • A terrifying variety of enemies, including Spitters, Crushers and Wraiths.

Age of Darkness: Final Stand is available now on Steam with a whopping 65% discount, but be quick as this is only available until the 27th January.
