Practical Magic 2 circling Susanne Bier to direct

January 25, 2025 by Ricky Church

After being revealed as in development last summer, there is new movement on Practical Magic 2 which will see Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reprise their roles in the follow up to the 1998 cult classic.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is in talks with Susanne Bier to direct the sequel. Bier has worked with both Bullock and Kidman on separate projects with Bier directing Bullock’s 2018 horror sci-fi Bird Box and Kidman in the limited series The Undoing and The Perfect Couple.

Bullock and Kidman starred as Sally and Gillian Owens respectively, two witch sisters raised by their eccentric aunts in a small town, who are faced with closed-minded prejudice and a curse that threatens to prevent them from finding lasting love.

Original screenwriter Avika Goldsman is returning to pen the sequel, with Bullock, Kidman and Denise Di Novi producing. As yet, there’s no word on a potential release date.
