Exclusive Interview – Scott Derrickson on blending action, horror, and romance in The Gorge

February 11, 2025 by EJ Moreno

Director Scott Derrickson talks about his new film The Gorge…

While filmmaker Scott Derrickson has proven himself capable of conjuring up great scares, he is now attempting romance in the new action-packed film The Gorge. During our interview, Derrickson opens up about what drew him to this script and how hard it is to balance the different genre elements.

Fans of his usual chills and thrills will enjoy the film, but see in our interview why the genre-blending makes The Gorge so unique. Check out the full video interview below, and be sure to follow us on YouTube for more reviews, exclusive interviews, and other video content…

Two highly-trained operatives (Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy) are appointed to posts in guard towers on opposite sides of a vast and highly classified gorge, protecting the world from an undisclosed, mysterious evil that lurks within. They bond from a distance while trying to stay vigilant in defending against an unseen enemy. When the cataclysmic threat to humanity is revealed to them, they must work together in a test of both their physical and mental strength to keep the secret in the gorge before it’s too late.

Scott Derrickson directed The Gorge, which stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Miles Teller, Sigourney Weaver, Sope Dirisu, William Houston, Samantha Coughlan, Alessandro Garcia, Greta Hansen, and Adam Scott-Rowley.

The Gorge arrives on Apple TV+ on February 14th.
