Having faced off against Brendan Fraser, Tom Cruise, and even Abbott and Costello, The Mummy knows its next foe will come in the form of Midsommer and Sing Street star Jack Reynor.
According to Deadline Reynor has been cast in an unspecified role, but will not be playing the bandaged boogeyman in the Atomic Monster/Blumhouse production, which is written and directed by Evil Dead Rise‘s Lee Cronin.
The first film to come from the newly formed production company run by horror maestros James Wan (Insidious) and Jason Blum (Speak No Evil), The Mummy is set to roll cameras imminently.
There is no official synopsis yet, or indication of how the film will attempt to rework the classic Universal monster in the same way that The Invisible Man and Wolf Man did under the Blumhouse banner, but The Mummy is already dated for April 17, 2026.
Reynor was last seen in Netflix series The Perfect Couple, and before facing up to Imhotep will star in the second season of Prime Video’s big-budget spy series Citadel.

Cronin will have had his pick of the projects following the critical and commercial success of Evil Dead Rise, which grossed $147 million at the box-office, when it was originally destined for streaming service Max.
