Owlcat Games and developer Another Angle Games have announced that the first Open Alpha playtest for their upcoming turn-based RPG Shadow of the Road is now available on Steam for PC. Players will be able to venture into a feudal Japan filled with mythology and steampunk technology. Watch the new trailer below for a sneak peak into this fascinating world.
In Shadow of the Road players can venture into feudal Japan, where a fierce rivalry exists between the Tokugawa Shogunate and Emperor Mutsuhito. In a world where Japanese tradition, mythology and steampunk technology blend together, players will lead a group of warriors on a quest to shape destiny.
This Open Alpha will provide players with four distinct playable characters, each with their own unique abilities that will cater towards different playstyles. As the battles grow more challenging, players will have the opportunity to unlock new abilities for their characters.
Players will be able to take part in intense battles throughout the Alpha with a final battle in an epic boss fight that will challenge the player’s skills and strategies. As well as the main quest line, players will also be able to take part in a number of side quests, providing more insight into the game’s mechanics and lore.
The full release of Shadow of the Road will feature:
- A strong narrative that follows two ronin warriors who are tasked to protect a child with immense powers.
- Every player decision will guide these characters along unique paths that can create great opportunities or grave consequences.
- Lead an elite group of warriors with different skills and create strategies that use these skills wisely.
- Turn-based combat with a samurai tactical vibe.
