Madonna has been working on her own biopic for some time. Once set to direct a film, with Julia Garner attached to star, the project is now taking new life.
Deadline reports that the legendary music superstar Madonna will partner with Netflix to tell her story. A limited series will follow her life and rise to music stardom. The series is in early development, with Madonna and Shawn Levy as executive producers.
Little is known about the project, but Deadline notes that this new biographical limited series is unrelated to the feature biopic Madonna has been working on for some time. An interesting note: Julia Garner is still interested and could tackle the role if her schedule fits (and Madonna still wants it).
Shawn Levy and his company, 21 Laps, have an exclusive TV overall deal with Netflix. The filmmaker has brought hits like Stranger Things and limited series The Perfect Couple and All the Light We Cannot See to the streamer. Levy is fresh off the 2024 hit film Deadpool & Wolverine.
Madonna is a pop music icon and one of the most influential and successful artists. She rose to fame in the 1980s with hits like “Like a Virgin,” “Material Girl,” and “Like a Prayer.” She’d later continue her pop music domination with songs like “Vogue,” “Music,” and even a Bond soundtrack song, “Die Another Day.” She has sold over 300 million records worldwide.
Stay tuned for more updates on this Madonna biopic limited series.
