EJ Moreno with a video on why the Lilo & Stitch remake works…
Director Dean Fleischer Camp had a much more challenging task when bringing Lilo & Stitch to life than I ever thought. Not only was translating the rich visuals and fun characters near impossible, but who knew the film had such a dedicated (and rabid) fanbase.
After its first weekend of release, the reaction to Disney’s latest live-action remake isn’t shocking, but it’s hard to shake off this feeling of misplaced anger. With Nani getting more to do and a streamlined final act, Lilo & Stitch proves that a great story transcends format. It worked in animation, and it works just as well here.
Not everyone feels that way, but here’s our video defending what easily could’ve been Disney’s most beloved live-action adaptation yet. Check out the review below, and be sure to follow us on YouTube for more reviews, exclusive interviews, and other video content…
“A live-action reimagining of Disney’s 2002 animated classic, “Lilo & Stitch” is the wildly funny and touching story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and the fugitive alien who helps to mend her broken family.”
Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, Lilo & Stitch stars Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders, with Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis, and introducing Maia Kealoha.
