Become James Bond with 007 First Light trailer

June 5, 2025 by Ricky Church

While James Bond’s cinematic future may be in flux, the world’s most recognizable and iconic super spy is about to get a new iteration in video game format in IO Interactive’s 007 First Light, a fresh take on Bond’s origin story into a double-0 agent.

IO has been developing 007 First Light for several years after it was announced as Project 007 in 2020. IO is most known for developing the Hitman franchise and it looks like they utilized some of the same game mechanics and inventive assassinations from the Hitman series for First Light in the announcement trailer for Bond’s latest adventure.

Players will step into Bond’s young shoes as he is recruited into MI6’s double-0 program and meet well known and beloved characters from the franchise that include M, Moneypenny and Q. 007 First Light will also introduce a new character named Greenway who reluctantly takes Bond under his wing at M’s behest.

“To have IO Interactive working on a 007 game is an incredible honor,” said Yann Roskell,IO’s  Senior Communication Manager. “To be able to harness all the experience and craftsmanship we have been honing for the last 25 years to create a James Bond adventure is a unique journey for the studio, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity.”

In 007 First Light, follow James Bond as a young, resourceful, and sometimes reckless recruit in MI6’s training program, and discover an origin story of the world’s most famous spy.

What do you think of 007 First Light? Does it look worthy to Bond’s video game legacy? Let us know on our social media channels at @FickeringMyth…

007 First Light will be released for the Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2026.
