Apocalyptic railway survival game Railborn announced

June 14, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Washbear Studio has unveiled their next game Railborn, an apocalyptic survival game where players will need to survive a hostile, dying alien world by scavenging for resources to construct a train worthy of surviving the apocalypse in. Watch the new trailer below to see how the game’s looking so far.

Railborn takes players to a dying alien world where they will be challenged to survive by constructing their own train to make use of the railway tracks that criss-cross the planet. Players will start off with nothing and must scavenge for all the resources they need to build up their train piece by piece. Players will start building the driving force behind their train and from there construct the erst of their train.

As players scavenge for resources and build up their train, they will be able to navigate the multitude of tracks that net the planet and discover abandoned colonies, uncover alien monoliths and collect rare plants to recreate dying biomes in the safety of their railway. Players will be able to take full control of managing their train, including directing resource flows, distributing water and managing its power.

There’s plenty of track to keep players going, and there are branching tracks that will carve their way through mountains and dive beneath the waves. Wherever the tracks go, players will be able to take their train, including the ultimate track that rises into space.

Look out for Railborn arriving at platform Steam Early Access for PC in 2026.
