Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Lily-Rose Depp to reteam with Robert Eggers for Werwulf

July 16, 2025 by Matt Rodgers

Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Lily-Rose Depp are set to do the monster-mash with Robert Eggers once again by signing on to star in his next slice of gothic-horror Werwulf.

According to Variety the trio will reunite following the critical and commercial success of the $180 million grossing Nosferatu, to bring to life a werewolf tale written by Eggers and his Northman collaborator Sjón.

The project will be keeping the gang together behind-the-scenes too, with Eggers and Sjón producing alongside Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title, with Maiden Voyage’s Chris and Eleanor Columbus on board as executive producers.

Werwulf is reportedly set in 13th-century England, with a script that features dialogue true to the time period and has translations and annotations for those who are uninitiated in Old English. Eggers has said that it is the darkest thing he has written to date.

In addition to Werwulf, Eggers is also attached to direct a sequel to the beloved 80s fantasy Labyrinth, and also recently signed on for an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, which has his regylar collaborator Willem Dafoe linked to the Scrooge role.

Hoping to match the seasonal success of Nosferatu, Werwulf will open on Christmas Day 2026 in North America.
