Netflix’s upcoming TV spin-off Extraction has gained a new member to its cast with Game of Thrones veteran and Aubrey’s Children star Natalie Dormer set to join Omar Sy and Boyd Holbrook in the series.
Extraction is a spin-off from the franchise of the same name which starred Chris Hemsworth as an Australian mercenary in the 2020 film and its 2023 sequel.
The TV series will see Sy portray a mercenary as he “embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue hostages in Libya. Trapped between warring factions and ruthless killers, he must navigate life-or-death choices while confronting deep emotional wounds. Extraction explores the trauma, betrayal, and moral conflicts of characters pushed to the edge.”
Dormer will play Clayton Wisper, the leader of a private military contractor, while Holbrook’s role is being kept under wraps for the time being.
The first season will run for 8 episodes with The Walking Dead’s Glen Mazzara serving as showrunner, writer and executive producers. Joe and Anthony Russo will also executive produce through their company AGBO.
Extraction was based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks and Fernando León González. The film was written by the Russo Brothers and directed by Sam Hargrave. They, along with Hemsworth and the rest of the original cast, returned for Extraction 2 and a third film is currently in development, though filming has not begun nor has a release window been teased.
