Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera fight for survival in The Lost Bus trailer

September 19, 2025 by Ricky Church

With Paul Greengrass’ latest film The Lost Bus premiering in theatres today, Apple TV+ has released a new trailer for the Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera-led survival thriller.

The Lost Bus is based on true events focusing on the California wildfires in November 2018 which sees McConaughey as a school bus driver who is sent to pick up nearly two-dozen children from the spreading wildfire. The film was based on the non-fiction book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire by Lizzie Johnson with the screenplay written by Greengrass and Brad Ingelsby.

The film will have a limited release in select theatres beginning today with a premiere on Apple’s streaming service on October 3rd. Starring alongside McConaughey and Ferrera are Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson and Spencer Watson. Watch the trailer below…

“The Lost Bus” is a white-knuckle ride through one of America’s deadliest wildfires, as a wayward school bus driver (Academy Award-winner Matthew McConaughey) and a dedicated school teacher (Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe Award-winner America Ferrera) battle to save 22 children from the terrifying inferno.

The Lost Bus arrives in select cinemas on September 19th, and premieres on Apple TV+ on October 3rd.
