Murder in the Dark series in development with Michael Falch reprising role

September 30, 2025 by Ricky Church

Amazon MGM Studios has announced development of Murder in the Dark, a new mystery thriller based on Danish author Dan Turèll’s novels. The show will star musician and actor Michael Falch, reprising his role from the 1986 feature adaptation of the same name. Prime Video released the first image of Falch set which can be viewed here…

Murder in the Dark follows “a retired and hard-bitten nameless journalist (Falch) and his daughter Sophie, who is an ambitious police detective. The pair are forced work together to solve a series of mysterious murders. Specifically, their alliance begins after a prominent lawyer is brutally killed, shortly after agreeing to reveal secrets from his criminal past in a tell-all book that Falch was going to write.”

Murder in the Dark will be a four-part series that Prime Video described as “a fast-paced crime series with a pinch of dark humour, packed with eccentric characters spanning all generations and social classes.” It will be produced by Amazon MGM and SAM Productions with Christian E. Christiansen directing from a script he co-wrote with Jesper Fink.

Joining Falch will be Alex Høgh Andersen (Vikings), Katinka Lærke Petersen (Elsker dig for tiden), Sofie Torp (Carmen Curlers), Lisbeth Wulff (Borgen), Kristian Halken (Rom), Alexandre Willaume (Tomb Raider), Clint Ruben (Graverne) and Benedikte Hansen (Badehotellet).

Murder in the Dark is currently filming in Copenhagen.
