Jim Carrey set to lead Colin Trevorrow’s live-action Jetson’s movie

Jim Carrey is in talks to lead Colin Trevorrow’s live-action version of classic Hanna Barbera cartoon The Jetsons for Warner Bros.

According to Variety the Sonic the Hedgehog and Ace Ventura star is set to land a role in the big-budget family adventure, which has been trying achieve lift-off for a few years now. 

Trevorrow, who steered Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Dominion to billion dollar returns, will write the screenplay alongside Joe Epstein.

The last time The Jetsons appeared on the big screen was 1990’s animated Jetsons: The Movie, which disappointed at the box-office, spluttering to just over $20 million. Since then Fantastic Four-director Adam Shankman has seen his attempt fail to get off the ground, while a Robert Zemeckis produced live-action series over at ABC failed to materialise. 

The Jetsons originally ran on ABC between 1962 and 1963 and told the story of a futuristic family in the 21st Century comprised of George Jetson, his wife Jane, daughter Judy, and son Elroy, along with their robot maid Rosie and dog Astro.
