New Prison Break series in development at Hulu with Emily Browning leading cast

October 21, 2025 by Ricky Church

It is time to escape once again as an all new Prison Break series is in development at Hulu. The new series comes from Elgin James (Mayans M.C.) and, though taking place in the same world as the original series, will follow a new cast of characters.

The new Prison Break was ordered to series at Hulu after James wrote and directed a pilot in the summer. Prison Break will follow “a soldier-turned-corrections officer takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves.”

The cast features Emily Browning (American Gods) as Cassidy, Drake Rodger (Last Known Backup) as Tommy, Lukas Gage (The White Lotus) as Jackson, Clayton Cardenas (Mayans M.C.) as Michael “Ghost”, JR Bourne (Mayans M.C.) as Junior, Georgie Flores (Kappa Kappa Die) as Andrea and Myles Bullock ( White Men Can’t Jump) as Darius “Red.”

Supporting cast includes Priscilla Delgado (Julieta), Ray McKinnon (The Continental: From The World of John Wick), Margo Martindale (The Sticky), Donal Logue (Gotham), Lili Taylor (Outer Range) and Sylvester Powell (All American: Homecoming).

The original Prison Break premiered in 2005 and starred Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell as brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows. Lincoln was arrested and placed on death row for the murder of the Vice President’s brother, but Michael believed he was framed and got himself arrested with an elaborate plan to break himself and his brother out of prison, all the while trying to expose a vast government conspiracy.

Prison Break concluded in 2009 after four seasons and a made-for-TV film finale titled Prison Break: The Final Break. This will not be the first time Prison Break has expanded as the crime drama Breakout Kings was loosely connected to the series. Prison Break also returned in 2015 for a sequel series which brought much of the original cast back. As of now none of the original stars will feature in the new series, but if successful it could open the door for Michael, Lincoln or other criminals to return.
