James Wan to produce new Paranormal Activity movie

December 4, 2025 by Matt Rodgers

Blumhouse-Atomic Monster are charging up the batteries in their GoPros and upgrading their home security systems in order to bring a brand new Paranormal Activity movie to the big screen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the newly formed horror producing powerhouse are looking to transfer the success of their Insidious and Conjuring franchises onto the $890 million grossing series of films.

The 2007 original grossed $194 million off a reported budget of just $15,000. Oren Peli, the director of Paranormal Activity is onboard as a producer, with The Conjuring‘s James Wan and super-producer Jason Blumhouse joining him under the Blumhouse-Atomic Monster banner. Paramount Pictures will co-finance, co-produce and distribute the movie.

Wan said in a statement that he’d “been a huge admirer of Paranormal Activity since the brilliant first movie, with its creeping slow burn and subtle ability to make the unseen terrifying. I’m looking forward to expanding on its legacy and helping shape the next evolution of this scary found-footage franchise,”

The last entry in the Paranormal Activity franchise was 2021’s Next of Kin, which was a largely forgettable Paramount+ offering. Prior to that was 2015’s Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, which was also a far cry from the excellent original, but still managed to gross almost $80 million on a $10 million budget.
