The Mummy 4 officially announced for 2028 with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz returning

February 10, 2026 by Ricky Church

Months after news first broke that Ready or Not 2: Here I Come directors Radio Silence were set for a new Mummy film at Universal that would see Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz reprise their iconic roles, the studio has officially announced the film for a summer 2028 release.

Fraser and Weisz first starred as Rick O’Connell and Evelyn Carnahan in the 1999 remake of The Mummy. O’Connell and Evelyn led an expedition to a long-lost Egyptian city, accidently releasing a deadly mummy upon the world and sought to send him back to the underworld before he regained his full power. The film was a blockbuster success spawning two sequels and the spin-off series The Scorpion King.

Though Fraser returned as O’Connell for each of his three films, Weisz was not in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, having been recast by Maria Bello.

The Mummy 4 has been given a release date of May 19th, 2028. Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will direct from a script written by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan).

It is unknown if any other members of The Mummy‘s cast will return for the new film, which included John Hannah, Oded Fehr, Arnold Vosloo and Patricia Velasquez.

The new Mummy will be produced by Sean Daniel and Project X Entertainment’s William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein.

The Mummy 4 will be released on May 19th, 2028.
