Disney’s iconic fairy Tinker Bell is getting her own live-action Disney+ series titled Tink.
Tink will be a drama following the fairy Tinker Bell at some point during her life, although it is unknown if the series will take place before or after Peter Pan, where Peter and Tinker Bell met Wendy Darling and her brothers leading to a confrontation with Captain Hook.
The series comes from Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter, both of whom met working on Friday Night Lights. Heldens is currently a co-showrunner on Hulu’s Will Trent while Carpenter created the series adaptation of Stephen King’s 11.22.63, the time travel story of a man who sets out to prevent President JFK’s assassination.
Tinker Bell has been a staple of Disney ever since the studio adapted J.M. Barrie’s classic children’s novel into their 1953 animated film. She is a fan-favourite character and has appeared in several Disney projects including live-action where she was played by Julia Roberts in Hook, Ludivine Sagnier in Peter Pan, Rose McIver in Once Upon A Time and Yara Shahidi in Peter Pan & Wendy.
Mae Whitman also voiced Tinker Bell in Disney’s Tinker Bell animated film series over the course off five films, following the fairy’s origins and adventures years before Peter Pan ever arrived in Neverland.
Heldens and Carpenter are writing and executive producing alongside Quinn Haberman from Heldens’ production company Selfish Mermaid. Former Disney Television CCO Gary Marsh will also executive produce for 20th Century.
