The galaxy really is getting bigger in Illumination and Nintendo’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as a fan-favourite character has been revealed to be in the film. Joining the film is Fox McCloud, leader of Star Fox, with Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) voicing the character.
Powell announced his role on Instagram in a playful video showing off his Star Fox jacket. The latest Super Mario Galaxy trailer had a blink-and-you-miss-it shot of him, but Nintendo has decided to fully reveal Fox’s appearance in the film.

Fox McCloud was first introduced in 1993’s Star Fox where Fox and his team of starfighters travel across space in the Lylat system to stop an invasion from the evil Andross. The game was a huge success which spawned a franchise, among it other successful games like Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Adventures.
Fox himself became such a popular character Nintendo included him in the roster for its crossover fighting game Super Smash Bros. where he became a fan-favourite character for players due to his speed and unique attacks. He has been a main character in every subsequent Smash Bros. game since with other Star Fox characters featuring alongside him.

Powell joins a cast that includes Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Donald Glover, Benny Safdie, Kevin Michael Richardson, Brie Larson, Luis Guzmán and Issa Rae.
