Horror icons Sam Raimi and Stephen King are set to collide for the first time, with the Evil Dead helmer set to produce an adaptation of King’s 1996 novel Desperation from Final Destination: Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein.
The logline for Desperation reads: “Stranded in a remote desert town where something evil has awakened, a group of travelers must fight to survive when a sadistic, possessed cop turns routine arrests into a relentless fight for their lives.”
Desperation was previously adapted as a TV movie in 2006 starring Tom Skerritt and Ron Perlman, with King regular Mick Garris directing from a teleplay penned by the author.

Raimi and his producing partner Robert Tapert will be producing the new film through their Ghost House Pictures banner for Searchlight Pictures. Lipovsky and Stein will also produce, as well as directing from a script by Ryan Brennan.
