HBO Max is whipping up excitement for the imminent arrival of its DC Studios series Lanterns by releasing the opening 5 minutes before its eagerly anticipated debut this weekend.
Created by Chris Mundy (Ozark), Damon Lindelof (LOST), and Tom King (Mister Miracle), Lanterns stars Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge) as John Stewart and Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) as Hal Jordan, alongside Kelly Macdonald, Garrett Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Sherman Augustus, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Ulrich Thomsen, and Nathan Fillion.

The series follows new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery with cosmic ties as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
Lanterns arrives August 16th on HBO Max.
