IT: Welcome to Derry premiered last October and followed a group of children living in 1962 Derry as they encounter the demonic monster Pennywise. It explored both Pennywise’s origins and Derry’s dark history during his periods of awakening from his slumber when he tortured the town. The series also brought in other elements from Stephen King’s novels, namely Dick Halloran who would eventually become the cook at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.
The synopsis for the upcoming season reads “Set in 1935, amidst the Great Depression, Season 2 revolves around the bloody massacre of the Bradley Gang, a group of bank robbers who stop in Derry to buy ammo and end up facing unimaginable horror.”
IT: Welcome to Derry saw Bill Skarsgård reprise his role as Pennywise with director Andy Muschietti and producer Barbara Muschietti executive producing the series and creating it with showrunner Jason Fuchs. For season two, the showrunner will be Brad Caleb Kane, who served as a writer and producer for the first season.

“We know IT: Welcome to Derry will continue to captivate viewers with its spine-tingling new journey into the 1930s for Season 2. We look forward to bringing fans back to the town of Derry to experience the next chapter and uncover even more of what lies beneath the surface,” said WB’s Television president Clancy Collins White.
