Oscar Isaac reteaming with Alex Garland for Annihilation

March 30, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Having starred in his acclaimed directorial debut Ex Machina, Oscar Isaac is set to reteam with Alex Garland for the sci-fi Annihilation, where he’ll join a cast that so far includes Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, and Tessa Thompson.

The film is based upon the first novel of Jeff VanderMeer’s Southern Reach trilogy, and “centers around a biologist (Portman) who, in seeking answers to her husband’s tragic disappearance volunteers for a government expedition into an area sealed off as an environmental disaster zone. What she discovers, however, is pristine wilderness, and a mysterious dark force within it.”

Production on Annihilation is set to get underway this Spring, presumably once Oscar Isaac completes work on Star Wars: Episode VIII, where he’s reprising the role of Poe Dameron.
