Jason Statham to battle a giant prehistoric shark in Meg

April 17, 2016 by Gary Collinson

It looks like British action star Jason Statham is set to go up against his biggest challenge yet, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that the actor has signed on to battle a giant prehistoric shark in Meg.

The project, which is based upon Steve Alten’s book MEG: A Novel of Deep Terror, has been in development for close to twenty years. Eli Roth (Knock Knock) was attached to direct until earlier this year, when Warner Bros. decided to overhaul the project, bringing in director Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure).

Meg revolves around the attempts to to track and capture an ancient Megalodon which threatens the California coast. However, the movie will shift the action to China, given the involvement of Chinese company Gravity, who are co-producing with WB.
