Game of Thrones season 6 to end with longest ever episode

June 9, 2016 by Gary Collinson

As we head into the eighth episode of Game of Thrones season six this Sunday [check out some promotional images here], HBO has confirmed the rumours surrounding the titles for the final two episodes, as well as revealing that the season finale will be the show’s longest episode to date.

Episode 9 is now confirmed as ‘The Battle of the Bastards’, which presumably refers to the big showdown at Winterfell between Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton, while the finale – which will run for 69 minutes – is titled ‘The Winds of Winter’ after George R.R. Martin’s as-yet-incomplete sixth novel.

Both episodes are being directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who directed season five’s ‘Hardhome’. As yet, there’s no official synopses for either episode.
