Benedict Wong says Doctor Strange’s Wong won’t be “a tea-making manservant”

June 28, 2016 by Gary Collinson

This November Benedict Wong (Prometheus, The Martian) is set to team up with fellow Brit – and fellow Benedict – Benedict Cumberbatch, as he portrays Dr. Stephen Strange’s sidekick Wong in Marvel’s Doctor Strange.

During an interview with Den of Geek, the appropriately named actor has revealed some details on the direction Marvel is taking with the character:

“I’m certainly not going to be the tea-making manservant. We’re heading in a different direction,” said Wong. “He’s more of a drill sergeant. There isn’t any martial arts for Wong in Doctor Strange actually, he’s more of a drill sergeant to Kamar-Taj. He’s one of the masters of sorcery.”
