Jim Broadbent joins Game of Thrones season 7 in “significant” role

August 31, 2016 by Gary Collinson

HBO has cast its first new addition for the seventh season of Game of Thrones, with Entertainment Weekly reporting that Oscar-winner Jim Broadbent (Iris, Harry Potter) has signed on for a “significant” role.

With the producers opting to keep details of said role under wraps, we can only speculate as to who Broadbent could be playing. Based upon the casting breakdown that arrived online earlier this month the only real possibility seems to be a character referred to as ‘Priest’, who was described as “A venerable priest with moral authority and gravitas. White actor with an RP accent and a characterful face.”

Who do you think Jim Broadbent could be playing in Game of Thrones? Someone from the Citadel? A member of the Faith? Let us know your theories in the comments below…
